Hyderabad: Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagendar on 19 June cleared all the 66 pending traffic challans on his five vehicles. The total challans amounted to Rs. 37,365. According to reports, during a special drive focusing on traffic violations that was started on 18 June, the Banjara Hills police spotted a four-wheeler that belonged to the MLA that had pending traffic challans.

"The traffic violations were overspeeding, signal jumping, etc.," said B. Shankar, Banjara Hills traffic inspector. He also said a special drive was being conducted to check traffic violations by high-end cars, minors driving without a license, vehicles having registration but without number plates, etc.

The Hyderabad traffic police said that during their drive to check pending challans, clear instructions have been issued to all traffic personnel to be considerate when women or members of the family are travelling in the vehicle. "In such cases, an opportunity will be given to the vehicle owner to clear the challans in the next 72 hours, failing which a charge sheet will be filed," the traffic police said.
