Hyderabad: Following the building collapse that led to the death of two people in Kukatpally, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) said they had issued a show cause notice to the owner to stop the construction of the third and fourth floors of the building but the owner ignored and continued it.
The GHMC detected the construction of unauthorised floors on a building in Kukatpally and issued a show cause notice to the owner on 3 January. However, the owner ignored the notice and commenced the construction of the slab on 7 January.
Due to negligence in construction, the recently-laid fourth-floor slab, layers of the concrete collapsed. This also led to the collapse of the third-floor slab due to which two labor workers died. The DRF and fire department helped remove the slab debris and retrieve the bodies.
The notice was issued for laying third floor slab and raising columns for fourth floor with a direction to stop the further unauthorised construction by giving sufficient time as per orders of the High Court.
GHMC officials proposed that a criminal case be filed against a building owner and site engineer for negligence while undertaking the construction work.
It was pointed out that Patlori Padmaja, the owner of a plot located near the BJP office road in Kukatpally, obtained building permission for the construction of extra floors without a permit.
The GHMC also found that the construction work commenced late and that the third and fourth floors were not unauthorised.
