The customer Sai Teja shared photos of the contaminated food on social media adding to the recent uproar caused by multiple food safety violations by many food joints in Hyderabad.
Mehfil Biryani, owned by renowned stand-up comedian Zakir Khan, is now under scrutiny as the disturbing discovery has shocked many of its patrons.
Teja reported the incident to Swiggy, the food delivery platform, and tagged the Telangana Food Safety Department (@cfs_telangana) for intervention. Swiggy initially responded with an apology and a partial refund ā a meagre Rs 64 for a bill of Rs 250 (approx) ā but Teja was not satisfied with this resolution. He took to social media to warn others about the restaurant, advising against ordering from Mehfil Kukatpally.

The incident has sparked widespread concern about food safety and quality control in Hyderabadās food-making and delivery services. Many users on social media shared similar experiences, reporting unexpected objects such as sharp plastic items and aluminium foil in their food. Some questioned whether a refund of Rs 64 was sufficient compensation for sending potentially harmful items.
After Swiggyās initial response, Teja was eventually contacted by a customer service representative and received a full refund.
