Hyderabad: Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) received as many as 49 complaints during the Prajavani programme held at Buddha Bhavan here.

HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath received several complaints about the encroachers destroying existing layouts and occupying plots, public parks, and streets.

Many have claimed that the encroachers destroyed the layouts set up between 1980 and 1990 and grabbed the land.

The complainants claimed that when real estate values soared, the layout developers were sometimes the ones who turned to encroachment. In other cases, there are also accusations that Panchayat layouts are being transformed into agricultural areas and cultivated.

One of the complainants informed Ranganath that Chanakyapuri, which was developed in the 1980s in Balapur Mandal Nadurgul village in the Rangareddy district, had 30 acres of land encroached upon by 2024. The complaint also alleged that the parks and roads in the area were also occupied.

Several property owners complained to the HYDRAA that they were unable to find their plots in the NMR - Divyanagar layout in Survey Nos. 58 and 59 of Rangareddy District's Pocharam municipality. They said that 66 plots had been squandered and were only seldom farmed. Many people wanted to preserve this layout, which includes parks and roadways.

Representatives of the TNGO Colony Welfare Association (Gachibowli) reported that some TNGO leaders gave away 8 acres of land given to employees in the TNGO Colony in Gopannapalli, Gachibowli, to private individuals.

Meanwhile, representatives from the Siripuram Colony Association have lodged a complaint stating that parks and roads have been encroached in Medchal-Malkajigiri District, Chengicharla Village, under Survey Nos. 7 and 10.

The complainants breathed a sigh of relief after the HYDRAA Commissioner ordered the officials concerned to conduct a thorough investigation, including an examination of Google Maps and Survey of India maps in their presence. As the commissioner promised to defend the locations designated for public purposes by filing complaints with the authorities, many voiced their satisfaction.
