Hyderabad: The 760-meter-long LB Nagar RHS flyover was inaugurated by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, K T Rama Rao, in Hyderabad on Saturday.

KTR announced that LB Nagar Junction would be named after Telangana Martyr Srikantha Chary, and the LB Nagar RHS Flyover will be named after Goddess Mal Maisamma.

The flyover has been constructed under the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) at Rs 32 crores. The minister said that the flyover has significantly reduced travel time from 20 minutes to seamless traffic flow at the LB Nagar junction.

The flyover is expected to enhance the travel experience for city residents, allowing them to travel conveniently to other parts of the city via Hayat Nagar. Moreover, it will increase vehicle speed, allowing traffic to move uninterrupted at the LB Nagar Junction.

Under the SRDP, 35 projects have been completed to mitigate traffic congestion in Hyderabad, with 12 more projects in progress. Nine projects were completed in LB Nagar, and three more are expected to be completed by September 2023. "Metro line from Nagole would be extended till LB Nagar, further extended to Hayathnagar, and eventually to the airport in the next term. In addition, the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) in Gaddiannaram will be made available to the public soon," said Minister KTR.

The GHMC has undertaken 47 works to address the increasing traffic congestion in the city, with 35 works completed so far. The GHMC has funded 32 works, while three out of the six works related to other departments have already been completed.
