HYDRAA Commissioner and Lake Protection Committee Chairman AV Ranganath inspected restored lakes in the city  

Hyderabad: HYDRAA Commissioner and Lake Protection Committee Chairman AV Ranganath has called upon the public to extend their support for the lake rejuvenation program initiated by the agency.

The HYDRAA is moving ahead with the aim of completing the restoration and beautification works of these ponds by June.

Ranganath, accompanied by the officials, conducted a ground level inspection to take stock of the ongoing lake rejuvenation and beautification works being carried out near Sunnam Cheruvu, Tammidikunta, Kukatpally Nallacheruvu, Uppal Nallacheruvu and Bhumrukh Uddin Daula Lake out of the six lakes undertaken by the HYDRAA in the first phase at an estimated cost of Rs 58.50 crore.

During his visit, Ranganath interacted with the locals and sought their cooperation for taking forward the initiative.

ā€œThe State government is according top priority to the restoration and beautification of lakes in the city. It has entrusted this responsibility to HYDRAA. This work is being done with the participation of other government departments,ā€ he said.

The HYDRAA commissioner said, ā€œIt is a pleasure to receive good cooperation from the locals. He said that soon everyone will see life in the lakes. The government will provide assistance under TDR to those who have lost their houses in the buffer zones of the lakes. HYDRAA will not demolish the houses that are already inhabited. No one needs to worry.ā€

Elaborating further, he said that with the restoration and beautification of the ponds, all the residential areas will gain priority. At present, the HYDRAA has taken up de-watering works in these lakes. Initially, the wastewater in the lakes is drained out and dried, he added.
