Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested a police constable of Maheshwaram police station, under Rachakonda commissionerat, for accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000.

The accused officer, D. Yadalah, was caught red-handed in the police station demanding and accepting Rs. 25,000 from Dayyala Balraj, a resident of Porandla village in Maheshwaram mandal in Rangareddy district. The bribe was for issuing notices to Balraj's son and four other relatives who are accused of a crime.

The tainted amount of Rs. 25,000 was recovered from the officer's possession. The chemical tests yielded positive results. "The accused officer performed his duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage," said the ACB.

Yadalah was arrested and produced before the principal special judge for SPE and ACB cases in Hyderabad.
