Hyderabad: Police have arrested a 52-year-old man for attempting to murder his wife and son over property dispute at Bilal Nagar in the Kalapathar area of Hyderabad.
Identified as Syed Habeeb Hashmi, he fired three rounds from his licensed revolver at his wife and son on Monday. However, the bullets missed the target and the duo escaped unhurt.
His son later filed a complaint with Kalapathar police stating that his father usually consumes alcohol and fights with him and his mother Tahera Begum. He said his father under the influence of liquor beats up his mother and threatens to sell the house.
On Monday, Syed Habeeb Hashmi stormed the house and demanded the property documents. After a heated exchange of words, he took out his licensed revolver and tried to shoot Tahera Begum. His son pounced on him to save his mother. He fired one shot which hit the ceiling. Later he fired two more rounds at his son, but they missed the target.
Based on his complaint, a case has been registered under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 27 (1) of the Indian Arms Act 1959 at Kalapathar police station.
Later the accused was apprehended and .22 revolver, five live rounds and 3 empty shells were seized.
