Hyderabad: A man from Uttar Pradesh was arrested on Saturday after he was accused of vandalizing Navagraha idols and the shikaram of the Sri Abaya Anjaneya Swamy Temple in Laxmareddypalem at Hayathnagar in Rangareddy district.

The sleuths of Hayathnagar Police said that the accused, Prem Chand Kushwaha alias Chote, 25, migrated to Hyderabad for livelihood and was residing at Shanthi Nagar, Lalapet in Hyderabad. He was a painter by profession. On 2 August 2021, he went to BN Reddy Nagar Vanasthalipuram by mistake when he wanted to go to Laxmareddypalem. Having no money to go home he stayed the night at the temple when some locals noticed him and sent him away.

Next day, he came back to the temple and vandalized the Navagraha idols, shikaram, mic and other temple property. The police were called and Chand Kushwaha was arrested after a search.
