On 2 October 2015, the Vanasthalipuram police received a complaint from the victim's mother claiming that her 15-year-old daughter had been raped by Anjaneyulu (25). She had come home on 29 September to take her daughter, who was unwell, to the hospital but found the girl missing.
While she was trying to find her daughter, she came to know that Anjaneyulu was also missing. She suspected his involvement and called him. After she questioned him about her daughter's disappearance, he brought the girl back home on 1 September. Her daughter told her that Anjaneyulu had raped her several times on the pretext of marriage and threatened to kill her if she told it to anybody.
As the girl was eight months pregnant Anjaneyulu and his wife had taken the girl to a hospital at Vanasthalipuram, told the hospital staff she was his second wife, and tried to abort her pregnancy. However, the hospital authorities refused.
Based on the woman's complaint, a case was registered at Vanasthalipuram police station. The accused was arrested and remanded to judicial custody. A charge sheet was filed on the completion of the investigation.
During the trial on Friday, the LB Nagar court convicted Anjaneyulu to undergo life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000 .
