Man gets life imprisonment for raping minor daughter

Hyderabad: The metropolitan sessions judge court at LB Nagar on 7 April sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping his minor daughter. The accused was sentenced to undergo "life imprisonment until death" and also pay a fine of Rs. 10,000.
On 25 October 2017, the victim filed a complaint claiming that her father had been sexually assaulting her for the past few months. The girl's mother had died eight years ago and since then she and her elder sister had been living with their father. After her sister's marriage, she was left alone with her father.
In the complaint, the victim said that for the past 10 months her father had come home drunk every night and raped her. He threatened to send her out of the house if she told anyone. Consequently, she got pregnant. When she informed her father that she had missed her periods for the last four months, he took her to a small hospital at Kompally. There the doctor examined her and informed him that she was pregnant. The girl's father gave her some tablets to abort the pregnancy.
The victim kept quiet about the whole incident. On Diwali when she visited her aunt's house in Warangal, she told her about the rape and the pregnancy. A case was registered and the father was arrested. On Wednesday he was sentenced to life.
