Manikonda HMWSSB official lands in ACB net over Rs 30,000 bribe for new water connections

Hyderabad: Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught the manager of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) accepting a Rs 30,000 bribe to give water connections to new buildings.

On Tuesday, Spoorthy Reddy, Manager of HMWSSB, Division-18 Marrichettu Junction, Manikonda was caught by ACB when she demanded and accepted a bribe amount of Rs 30,000 through an outsourcing employee Naveen Goud.

The ACB officials also caught Naveen Goud, an outsourcing employee of the same division, who took the bribe from the complainant Bommu Upendranath Reddy, a resident of Manikonda.

According to the case details, Spoorthy Reddy demanded a bribe for 'processing and issuing two new water connections for the newly constructed buildings' of the complainant in Neknampur Village, Gandipet Mandal, under the Manikonda Municipality.

The accused officers were charged for ‘improperly and dishonestly’ executing their public duty. The bribe amount was recovered from Naveen Goud and fingers on both hands yielded positive in chemical test.

The accused have been arrested and produced before a special judge for SPE and ACB cases court at Nampally here. The case is under investigation.

The ACB officials request the public that if they find any government servant demanding a bribe, they are requested to contact the toll-free number of ACB 1064 to take action as per law.
