Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a priest from Bangaru Maisamma Temple in Shamshabad, identified as Venkata Sai Surya Krishna, was arrested for the brutal murder of a 30-year-old woman named Kuruganti Apsara.

According to authorities, Krishna, a 36-year-old priest who was also working as a contractor, and is married with two children, allegedly took the drastic step due to the woman’s persistent demands to marry him. According to the police, on June 4, Apsara, working in the private sector, accompanied Krishna thinking that they are visiting a goshala in Sultanpally. They travelled together in a car, which later became the site of the crime.

At Narkuda village, on the outskirts of Shamshabad Rural Police Station, Krishna allegedly struck Apsara on the head with a stone, causing her death. He then wrapped her body in a cover, transported it to Saroornagar, and disposed of it in a manhole near the MRO office.

On June 5, Krishna went to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) Police Station to file a missing report on Apsara, claiming that she disappeared from the Shamshabad bus stand on June 3. However, during the investigation, police became suspicious and intensified their scrutiny.

Under questioning, Krishna confessed to the crime. He admitted to killing Apsara because she persistently demanded marriage, which he couldn’t comply with due to his existing marriage.

Following the accused’s confession, the police recovered the victim’s body from Saroornagar, prompting them to alter the case to one of murder. He has been taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
