Meerpet: Cops arrest 6 for gang rape of minor in Nandanavanam Colony
Rachakonda Police arrested six accused in the gang rape case of a minor, while one accused is absconding.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 22 Aug 2023 3:04 PM GMTHyderabad: The Rachakonda Police on Tuesday arrested six persons accused of raping a minor at her house in Nandanavanam Colony under the Meerpet Police Station limits of the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate.
The accused have been identified as Abed-Bin-Khaled (35), a mechanic in Seetharam Pet in Mangalhat; Mankala Mahesh (20), a labourer from Saroornagar mandal in Ranga Reddy district; M Narsing (23), a band worker from Saroornagar mandal; Ashraf (20), a watchman in Nandanavanam; Md Faizal (21), a flower decoration worker at Old Malakpet; and Md Imran (20), a flower decoration worker at Old Malakpet. An accused named Tahseen is absconding.
Disclosing the details of the crime, Rachakonda commissioner DS Chauhan informed the media that, on August 21, the police registered a gang rape case, based on the statement of the victim. The victim is a resident of Shanthi Nagar, Lalapet in Hyderabad. A week ago, the victimās cousin, along with her two brothers, brought them to Nandanavanam to look after them.
On August 19, Abed approached the victim and physically harassed her. She refused his advances and rebuked him. The next day on August 21, at around 11 am, when the girl and her two brothers were present in the house, the accused Abed along with his friends, including Tahseen and Mahesh, entered the house. Abed dragged her into the room and raped her. The others too raped her, threatening her at knife-point.
āPolice formed seven special teams to nab the accused. On August 22, on reliable information, the main accused Abed-Bin-Khaled was apprehended at Santhosh Nagar,ā said the Rachakonda commissioner. Upon interrogation, the accused confessed his guilt. The police seized a knife from the accused.
