Miss World 2025: Telangana steps up security as Hyderabad prepares to host global event
Hyderabad: In preparation for the 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant, which will be held in Telangana this month, the stateās top police officials have been instructed to implement comprehensive security measures to ensure the safety of hundreds of international delegates.
Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Anjani Kumar Jitender held a high-level meeting in Hyderabad on Friday, reviewing preparations with senior law enforcement officers.
The beauty pageant, one of the most-watched global events, will bring contestants from nearly 120 countries to Hyderabad, with both the opening and closing ceremonies scheduled in the city.
āShowcase Telanganaās Efficiencyā
āThis is not just a beauty pageant. It is an opportunity to enhance Telanganaās image on the global stage,ā DGP Jitender said during the meeting. āWe must ensure robust and seamless security throughout.ā
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, in a separate briefing with officials earlier this week, emphasized that the pageant should serve as a platform to present Telangana as a safe and welcoming destination. The DGP echoed this sentiment, noting that security arrangements will reflect the stateās capability to host high-profile international events.
Delegates to Explore Telangana
Over the course of the month-long event, contestants will travel in groups across Telangana, visiting key cultural and historical landmarks. These include the UNESCO World Heritage Site Ramappa Temple in Mulugu, Buddhavanam in Nalgonda, Pillalamarri in Mahabubnagar, and sites in Warangal.
To manage the logistical complexity of securing multiple locations simultaneously, a centralized control system will be established. Police forces will be deployed at every venue, and coordination between districts will be maintained via real-time monitoring systems.
Arrival Begins, Police on Alert
The arrival of contestants began on Friday, with delegations expected to continue flowing in over the next several days. Of the anticipated 120 countries, 116 have confirmed participation.
Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Mahesh M. Bhagwat and ADGP (Greyhounds and Octopus) M. Stephen Raveendra ā who also serves as the police nodal officer for Miss World ā were among those present at the security review. Police commissioners and superintendents from Warangal, Mulugu, Nalgonda, and Mahabubnagar joined via video conference.
With eyes from around the world on Telangana this month, state police say they are ready to deliver a secure and dignified environment for one of the most prestigious international events ever hosted in the region.
