Hyderabad: The shops and establishments selling and/or serving liquor in the limits of LB Nagar, Saroornagar, and Chaitanyapuri police stations will be closed on Wednesday in view of the counting of MLC election votes in the city.
The Rachakonda police on Tuesday issued the order under Section 20(1) of the AP Excise Act, 1968 (Telangana Adoption) regarding the closure of all A4 shops, 2B restaurant, and bars, toddy shops, toddy depots, military canteen, APBCL, IMFL depots, and other establishments selling and/or serving liquor to anyone whosoever under the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate limits from 6 am on 17 March till the completion of MLC vote counting in the limits of LB Nagar, Saroornagar and Chaitanyapuri police stations.
The voting for the two Graduate MLC seats of Hyderabad-Rangareddy- Mahbubnagar and Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam constituencies was held on 14 March across 21 districts in the state.
Around 1,530 polling centres were set up where 7,560 staff members were deployed. A total of 93 candidates are in the fray for the Mahbubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad seat while 71 candidates are in the fray for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda seat.
