Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Thursday slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh on actor Manchu Mohan Babu for erecting an unauthorised billboard for advertisement in front of his house at Film Nagar, Jubilee Hills.
Following a complaint, the Enforcement, Vigilance, and Disaster Management (EV&DM) wing of the GHMC took action over the unauthorized billboard that is above 15 feet from the ground.
On February 17, the complainant tweeted to the EV&DM team about the illegal banner in front of the actor's house.
The EV&DM team registered a complaint and generated an e-challan on February 18.
The violator had put up an illegal advertisement without permission from competent authorities which is an offense under Sections 420, 421 of the GHMC Act and as per GO No. 68 dated April 20, 2020, stated EV&DM in the e-challan.
According to the Directorate of EV&DM, the use of flashing lights or non-static illumination in the advertisements or use of a board exceeding 15 per cent of the frontage of the building, or use of moving or rotating advertising devices without written permission from a competent authority is an offense under Sections 420, 421 of the GHMC Act.
