Hyderabad: The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) officials caught a police constable red-handed when he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000.

The police constable, K. Anjilaiah from Moinabad police station in Rajendranagar division of Cyberabad police commissionerate, was caught red-handed at the police station on Friday when he was demanding and accepting the bribe from Abdul Raheem of Qutubuddinguda village in Ranga Reddy district.

Anjilaiah had demanded the bribe to hand over the motorcycle to Abdul which was seized after a case was registered. The officer had also promised not to open a rowdy sheet against him, an ACB release said on Saturday. The tainted bribe amount was recovered from the police constable when the chemical test conducted yielded a positive result.

The ACB added that the constable performed his duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage. Anjilaiah was arrested and will be produced before the First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases.
