Mukarram Jah comes home for the last time: KCR pays tribute to Hyderabad’s last Nizam
The last Nizam will be laid to rest in the family’s vault in the forecourt of Mecca Masjid. The Telangana government has decided to accord funeral with full police honours to Mukarram Jah.

Hyderabad: The titular Nizam of Hyderabad Mukarram Jah Bahadur’s body arrived at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad on Tuesday at around 5 p.m. His mortal remains were transported following all state protocols. The last Nizam will be laid to rest in the family’s vault in the forecourt of Mecca Masjid.
His mortal remains passed through Gaganpahad, Aaramgarh crossroad, National Police Academy, Ansari road, Miralam filter, Tadban, Bahadurpur, Puranapul, Hussenialam, and Murgi Chowk before reaching the Chowmahalla Palace.
KCR pays tribute
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao started from Pragathi Bhawan at 6:30 p.m and paid his tributes at the Chowmahalla Palace at around 7 p.m. He garlanded Mukarram Jah’s coffin and spoke to Princess Esra, the wife of Mukarram Jah. Princess Esra thanked KCR for arranging the state funeral. KCR was also seen seated with Princess Esra, Prince Azmat Jah, and Princess Shekhar, the children of Mukarram Jah and Princess Esra.
Home minister Mahmood Ali Khan and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi also paid their respects to Mukarram Jah at the Chowmahalla Palace.
Mukarram Jah’s family, close friends, staff, and trustees paid tributes to the eighth Nizam from 7 p.m to 10 p.m on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the public can pay their last respects from 8 a.m to 1 p.m. At around 4 p.m, the mortal remains will be carried to Mecca Masjid. After Asar prayers, Mukarram Jah will be laid to rest by his immediate family.
The Telangana government has decided to accord funeral with full police honours to Mukarram Jah and arrangements are being done in coordination with all the departments of the Telangana government, the Nizam's family members, and trustees. A.K Khan, advisor to the Telangana government, has been appointed by the state government to ensure all preparations are in place for state funeral. Nawab Faiz Khan, trustee of Mukarram Jah Trust for Education and Learning, is overseeing the funeral arrangements from the side of the Nizam’s family.
