Multiple students accuse Attapur school’s teacher of misbehaviour

Hyderabad: After the physical education teacher of a school in Attapur (PET) was booked under the POCSO Act for misbehaving with a Class VIII girl student, many students have come out with harrowing tales of similar harassment from the teacher.

The 30-year-old PET teacher was identified as Vishnu of SR DG School in Attapur. He reportedly touched a girl inappropriately and also abused her on the phone during odd hours after school.

The parents of the children of the school demanded that the management take full responsibility for the incident. They said that many children have also complained of similar abuse from the teacher.

According to the Attapur police, the case was registered on a complaint by the girl’s mother, after which Vishnu was arrested and sent to remand.

‘School doesn’t have CCTV cameras’

On Saturday, parents, along with other relatives, went to the school to find the teacher. When they couldn’t reach him through the phone, they thrashed the school’s furniture and computer equipment. Later, they found him hiding in a room on the fourth floor of the school building. They beat him up before handing him over to the police.

“The school management is not good, and there are no CCTV cameras on the school premises. We were told by the children that the teacher used to stalk students during and after school hours. He used to follow them to the washroom, drink water from their water bottles, and touch them inappropriately,” said a parent.

According to the parents, some Class X students said that the teacher used to hold their hands, touch them on their backs and take photographs.
