Hyderabad: Standup Comedian Munawar Faruqui's show 'Dhandho' which was scheduled to be held on January 9, 2022, in Hyderabad has been canceled owing to the rise in Covid-19 cases and its subsequent restrictions. The news was confirmed to NewsMeter by Munawar's team, citing covid reasons.
Munawar's team also informed that they are unclear whether the show will be rescheduled or not. The show had been announced in the city days after Municipal Administration Minister and TRS President K.T. Rama Rao took a jibe at the BJP government in Karnataka for canceling Faruqui and Kunal Kamra's shows in Bengaluru over threats from Hindu groups.
In the wake of the increasing Covid-19 cases and the scare of a possible third wave in the state, another event that has come to a standstill is the Annual Inorbit Durgam Cheruvu Run which was supposed to be held on January 23, 2022. The run has been postponed due to the pandemic. A new date will soon be announced to the public. In the case where the event would not be held, a full refund will be issued to all registered participants, a message from the organizers read.
Telangana for the third consecutive day recorded a sharp rise in covid cases. The state added 1,520 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, pushing the cumulative caseload to 6,85,543. On Tuesday, the state had reported only 1052 cases. The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 6,168. One more COVID-19 death was reported in the last 24 hours in Telangana.
