Musical band row: Four booked for attacking wedding party at Nampally

Hyderabad: Police have registered a case against four persons for attacking a wedding party at Laxmi Nagar under Nampally police station. The incident occurred when locals objected to playing loud musical band during late-night hours.

Police said an elaborate meal was organized for around 60 guests at Laxmi Nagar community hall. That lunch went from afternoon till 9:30 pm in the night. The organizer asked the band to play the music which irked the local residents.

"The nearby residents after hearing the band went to the community hall and asked the organizer to stop it. Few people at the function were drunk and started arguing with them. Later 15-20 local residents attacked the guest with sticks," said Khaleel Pasha, SHO, Nampally.

A guest said they requested the band to play music for the kids. "Around 15-20 people started beating us. They locked women and children inside the hall," he said. Guests alleged that a kid's leg was fractured in the melee. They said the Kharbuza gang was involved in the ruckus.

Police reached the community hall and brought the situation under control. Police said it was a small function though most of the male guests were drunk. "It's a residential area. Locals did not like the sound and tried to stop the band," said police.

Police have clarified that though there was a fight, no one was seriously injured. Police have identified eight people and called them for questioning.

"A video has surfaced on social media. Many of the locals were seen in the video. But not everyone was involved. Some of them were spectators," said police. Police have registered a case under section 448 (house-trespass), 324 (voluntarily causes hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 427 (causes loss or damage) of IPC.
