Nagaram land ownership case: ED attaches assets worth Rs 4.80 crore of Munawar Khan, wife

Hyderabad: Sleuths of the Enforcement Directorate, Hyderabad Zonal Office, have provisionally attached immovable properties worth Rs 4.80 crore owned by one Mohd. Munawar Khan and his wife, Faiqa Taha Khan, in connection with a money laundering case against Khader Unissa and others.

This comes after the ED searches, which were held in April 2025.

The attached properties are situated at Banjara Hills, Tolichowki and Shamshababad.

Alleged manipulation of government revenue records

ED took up the investigation based on an FIR registered by the Telangana police against private persons and government officials regarding the illegal sale of government land involving forgery of documents and manipulation of government revenue records.

Why does the probe say?

Government land/Bhoodan land situated in Survey No. 181, Nagaram Village, MaheshwaramMandal, was falsely claimed by S Khader Unissa and her son Mohd. Munawar Khan as ancestral property, the revenue records were fraudulently mutated, and the land parcels were further sold to several parties in association with several middlemen.

These middlemen, in connivance with some government officials, forged the documents and changed the land revenue records fraudulently, resulting in de-notifying the said land from the prohibited list and its subsequent sale to some private parties.

By selling Government land/BhoodanLand illegally, Khader Unissa and her son Mohd. Munawar Khan illegally gained Proceeds of Crime (POC) to the tune of Rs 6.45 crore. The accused was further utilised by Mohd. Munawar Khan, inter alia, to acquire immovable properties in the name of his wife, Faiqa Taha Khan.

What is the case about?

The case has also gained significant attention since Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has announced prioritising the protection of government and Bhoodan land.

Earlier, the ED questioned Amoy Kumar in the case.

However, so far, he has not been named as an accused nor has his name featured in the FIR copy, which NewsMeter has obtained. Amoy Kumar served as the Medchal-Malkajgiri and Ranga Reddy collector and as the joint secretary to the government.

Currently, he is posted as the joint secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries (AHDD & F).

The case that brought the IAS officers on ED’s radar.
