New year eve: 5,819 driving licences suspended in Hyderabad

Hyderabad Joint Transport Commissioner Panduranga Naik said that 5,819 driving licenses have been suspended under RTA in Hyderabad this year. He said that those licenses were suspended in cases like drunken driving and accident.
Naik revealed in a statement on Saturday that this year's figures are 3,220 more than 2021.
He said that there are East, West, North, South and Central zones in Hyderabad, but licenses have been heavily canceled in all other zones except the East zone.
1103 licences in North Zone, 1151 in South, 510 in East and 1345 in West Zone have been cancelled.
Drunken Driving in Cyberabad
To prevent road accidents and other untoward incidents on December 31st night upto January 1st morning, hundreds of teams of Cyberabad Police conducted drunk driving tests across Cyberabad and 1314 persons were caught while driving under the influence of alcohol and cases were booked against them.
All of them will be produced before the court in due course of time after filing charge sheets.
Also, their DLs will be seized and sent to the concerned RTAs for suspension as per section 19 of the MV act, 1988.
Around 731 persons had alcohol reading more than 100 mg/100 ml of blood and 76 had more than 300 mg and 14 persons had more than 500 mg reading.
Most of the cases were reported in Kukatpally, Gachibowli, Madhapur, Miyapur and KPHB areas.
