Nalgonda RPF nab woman duping train passengers as fake SI

Hyderabad: RPS Nalgonda officials and RPF staff arrested a person for impersonating a sub-inspector of the Railway Protection Force (RPF). The arrested has been identified as Jadala Malavika (25), a resident of Narketpalli in Nalgonda District.

The accused was arrested near the foot-over-bridge on platform number 1 at Nalgonda Railway Station. She voluntarily confessed to having committed the offences to satisfy her father and relatives.

On Monday, the SI of police RPS Nalgonda received a complaint that a woman had been seen wearing an RPF sub-inspector uniform and other official accompaniments while frequently travelling on various trains between Nalgonda and Secunderabad, notably the Palnadu Express.

She would present herself to passengers as a bona fide SI of the RPF, showing them a counterfeit identity card to support her false claims. Furthermore, she has deceived her relatives and villagers by falsely asserting that she has been employed as an SI in the Railway Protection Force stationed at Secunderabad for the past year.

Accused participated in public events as SI

The issue was aggravated when it found that Malavika had exploited her false credentials to gain status and unwarranted recognition by participating in events such as the International Womenā€™s Day celebrations in Nalgonda where she purportedly represented herself as a sub-inspector and received felicitation from the organisers.

Additionally, she has used her deceptive guise to establish connections with popular personalities such as actor Suman.

The RPF said that these deceitful actions not only tarnish the reputation and integrity of the Railway Protection Force but also pose significant risks to public safety. ā€œThere is a genuine concern that passengers may be misled into parting with their money under false pretence or that the impersonator may engage in other nefarious activities while wearing the RPF uniform,ā€ the RPF said in a public notice.

The officials seized from her various items used for impersonation such as an RPF SI uniform with RPF logo, stars, RPF shoulder steel badges, name plate, brown shoes, brown colour RPF Belt, an RPF fake laminated ID card and an extra name plate.
