Hyderabad: Nampally’s multi-storey parking facility to open soon for public soon, it is the first of its kind in India says N V S Reddy
Hyderabad: The multi-storey parking system in Nampally will soon be open for the public, said Hyderabad Metro Rail managing director NVS Reddy on Sunday. The multi-level parking is getting its finishing touches and was inspected by Reddy on Sunday.
The final clearances from various government departments are pending and once they come, it will be open for the public. Reddy said, “It’s a world-class project and it will help to solve the parking problems of the Nampally area.”

Details of the project
- It’s a public-private partnership project, with HMRL supervising and the private company Novum building it.
- A fully automated puzzle parking system using the state-of-the-art German Palis technology
- It is the first of its kind in India and the most advanced parking complex in the world.
- HMRCL provided a 2,000 square yard plot on a 50-year concession to the project developers Dr Harikishan Reddy and Bhavana Reddy, who invested Rs 102 crore of their funds.
- The complex will have a total of 15 floors, including 10 parking floors (3 basements and 7 above-ground floors), with the remaining 5 floors designated for commercial activities.
- The complex will also feature two well-equipped cinema theatres and a city-view gallery on the 11th floor.
- The multi-storey parking facility can accommodate a total of 250 cars and 200 two-wheelers.
NVS Reddy explained that the fully automated puzzle parking system, which operates with sensors and no human intervention, is very interesting. The system will automatically classify and park SUVs, sedans, and small cars on designated floors based on their size.

Parking systems in Delhi, Mumbai
Unlike the few mechanical parking complexes in Delhi and Mumbai, this system is pallet-less, making parking extremely convenient.
The terminals for vehicles entering and exiting are spacious and operate smartly. There will be flat terminals suitable for the elderly, women, and the disabled. He revealed that even if a vehicle is left at an angle, the 360-degree rotating Palis table will automatically align it correctly for parking.

The process of the unique experience for users includes:
- QR code ticket at the in/out terminal and instructions
- The user has to swipe the card to open the terminal gate
- Driver puts the car on the turntable, applies the handbrake, turns off the engine and exits
- Swiping the card outside the terminal starts the parking process
- The system automatically scans the car, classifies it as an SUV or sedan, and parks it on the appropriate floor.
- After paying the fee at the counter, the user can swipe the card at the designated I/O terminal, and the vehicle will be retrieved from the parking platform and delivered to them.
Reddy said, “This project not only offers an excellent solution to parking problems but also sets a new standard in the country regarding technology, user experience, safety and convenience.”
