Hyderabad: Doctors have said Hydershakote car accident victim Kavitha may require surgery.

Anuradha and Mamtha were killed, while Kavitha suffered critical wounds when a speeding car rammed into morning walkers at Hydershakote Main Road on Tuesday.

Kavitha's struggle for life

The 39-year-old Kavitha also known as Malavika resides in Bhagyanagar Colony, Sunctity, Hyderabad. She runs a small-scale tailoring business from her home. Her morning walks, accompanied by her friend Anuradha, had become an integral part of her routine. Little did they know that ill-fated morning walks would change their lives.

The tragic accident

On Tuesday morning, around 6:10 am when the victims were out for their routine walk. The speeding car, driven by 19-year-old Mohammed Badi Uddin Quadri, lost control while negotiating a sharp curve and hit the pedestrians.

Preliminary investigations reveal that Badi Uddin and his friends, M. Ganesh, Abdul Rehaman, and Mohammed Faisan, were drunk. They were heading to Moinabad to celebrate Badi Uddin's birthday.

The impact was so huge that victims were flung into nearby bushes. Anuradha, Kavitha's walking companion, and Mamtha, daughter of Anuradha and Nemeli Srinivas, tragically lost their lives. Another passerby, Intaab Khan (60), also suffered critical injuries and was admitted to Apollo Hospital for treatment.


Arrest and Investigation

The responsible individuals displayed a shocking lack of accountability in the wake of the accident Narsingi Inspector said: ā€œBadi Uddin and his friends abandoned their damaged car at the scene and proceeded to a farmhouse in Moinabad to celebrate Badi Uddin's birthday, leaving the victims behind.ā€

However, the police swiftly took action. By scrutinizing the CCTV footage from a camera of an army officerā€™s house near the incident, the police were able to identify the culprits. The car's registration number, AP09 BJ 2588, led them to trace the accused to the farmhouse where they were busy preparing for the birthday celebrations.

Police have arrested Badi Uddin, Abdul Rehaman, and M Ganesh, and registered a case of causing death by a rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide under section 304 (2) and 337 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Kavithaā€™s family in deep shock

Kavitha's brother Srikanth Sri, who works in a private company, rushed to see his sister. "I received a call around 6:30 am about the accident,ā€ he said.

Srikanth shared the challenging circumstances that led Kavitha to embark on morning walks. "Due to her health condition, Akka (Kavitha) goes for a walk every morning along with her friend Anuradha."

The accident has left the family in a state of shock. Kavitha is a mother of three daughters aged 18, 16, and 11. Praying for her mother's recovery, the youngest daughter is currently staying at a hostel in Vikarabad.

As Kavitha continues her fight for recovery, her family remains hopeful for her well-being and waits for further updates from the doctors.
