Narsingi town planning officer caught taking Rs 4 lakh bribe for LRS clearance

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday caught a town planning officer red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 4 lakh at the Narsingi municipal office in Hyderabad.

Rs 10 lakh demanded for LRS clearance

The officer, identified as Maniharika, had allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh from one Vinod, promising to clear his application under the Land Regularisation Scheme (LRS). She was trapped while taking part of the amount as an advance.

Complainant approached ACB

Unable to meet the demand, Vinod complained to the ACB. Acting on the tip-off, officials laid a trap and apprehended the officer during the transaction.

Searches underway

A team led by DSP Sridhar conducted searches at the municipal office soon after the arrest. Officials were also scrutinising files previously cleared by Maniharika to detect any irregularities.
