Neredmet: Indie cat stolen for `human consumption’; case registered

Cat owner, Ruth Varsha Talluri, who works for a commercial airline, suspected that `Sweetu’ was kidnapped for human consumption on January 29. On February 4, Saturday, the police have arrested three people who killed and cooked a domestic cat. The accused Chittari Narsingh (40), Kiran (38) and Shankar (35), who live in Vinayak Nagar and do centring work, stole a cat from Rutuvarsha's house on January 29. They then killed it and ate it.
Ruth Varsha filed a complaint with the Neredmet police station. She also submitted CCTV footage showing the suspects carrying the pet in a bag. Ruth Varsha, who's got a houseful of cats and dogs in a gated community, said her mother was alone at home when miscreants took away the pet.
She said she came to know that the suspects are from a particular community that kills cats for meat. Ruth Varsha also approached the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals officer Adulapuram Goutham about her missing cat.PCA officer raised an online complaint with Neredmet police station and also sent the registered post for registering FIR.
Ruth Varsha also gave a complaint at the police station so that FIR could be registered. "We have received a complaint from Ruth Varsha, based on which we have registered the case under section 448, 428 IPC & section 11(1)(A) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act," Neredmet Police Inspector A. Narasimha Swamy said.
