Hyderabad: Pedestrian safety in high-footfall areas took centre stage at a traffic coordination meeting convened by Cyberabad Police, Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC), and the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) on Wednesday.

Officials proposed the construction of new footpaths, streamlining of narrow road stretches, and earmarking of vending zones to free up pedestrian space and ensure safer mobility in the city’s bustling IT corridor.

Road widening and junction improvements

The meeting reviewed pending and ongoing road widening works at critical stretches, including: ITC Kohenur–IKEA Flyover stretch (with ITC corner free left), Lemon Tree–Trident road, Cyber Towers–Medicover Hospital approach, Vamsiram–Wipro Junction, and ICICI Junction–WaveRock corridor.

It was also suggested that roads converging at 90-degree angles be redesigned to 45 degrees to ease vehicle movement.

Shifting utilities for smooth flow

Participants emphasised the need to shift electrical poles and water pipelines to eliminate obstructions and facilitate smoother traffic flow.

Focus on connectivity

Identification of link roads and proposals for new connectivity routes were also taken up for analysis, aimed at reducing congestion and distributing traffic load more effectively across Cyberabad.
