New landmark for nature lovers: Nilayam Nikunj opens at Rashtrapati Nilayam in Bolarum
Hyderabad: Nilayam Nikunj, a newly developed six-acre landscape garden at the Rashtrapati Nilayam in Bolarum, was opened to the public on Friday.
The initiative, located within the official retreat of the President, was virtually inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu to mark the completion of her third year in office.
The garden aims to foster environmental awareness, promote wellness and encourage public engagement with nature.
āNilayam Nikunj has been envisioned as a space that promotes environmental sustainability, wellness, and community interaction,ā said K Rajani Priya from the Presidentās Secretariat, Rashtrapati Nilayam.

Garden Features and Layout
Nilayam Nikunj features a variety of green spaces and activity zones designed for public use. Key elements include:

⢠Rose garden with 800 rose plants
⢠Yoga zone
⢠Kidsā play area
⢠Walking pathways
In terms of plantation, the garden hosts 404 trees, 5,240 shrubs, and 27,300 hedge plants.
Visitor Information and Access
Entry to Nilayam Nikunj is free. Visitors are required to pre-book their visit through the official website: https://visit.rashtrapatibhavan.gov.in. Those who already hold tickets for the Rashtrapati Nilayam main circuit will be allowed access to the garden as well.
As part of Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorations, entry fees for Defence personnel, paramilitary staff, and ex-servicemen have been waived from July 26 to September 14. Eligible individuals must carry valid ID cards and complete registration at the reception desk to avail the fee exemption.
Public Engagement and Sustainability
Officials hope that the initiative will draw regular footfall from local residents, tourists, and wellness practitioners.
āThis initiative reflects the Presidentās commitment to sustainability and inclusive public spaces,ā added K Rajani Priya.
Nilayam Nikunj is part of broader efforts to open up Rashtrapati estates across India to the public while promoting environmental and educational outreach.
The garden is now open for visitors and is expected to be a recurring green destination in Secunderabad.
