Hyderabad: Begumpet Railway Station is witnessing a transformation under the Amrit Bharat Scheme. As part of the redevelopment initiative, the South Coast Railway has proposed for the installation of two escalators and two lifts and upgrading facilities at an estimated cost of Rs 26.55 crore.
Begumpet Railway Station is one of the important stations with superfast trains coming from Mumbai and Pune, with being a stop for 122 trains. The average footfall is around 16,648 passengers per day.
Old station building upgraded and a new ticket booking window
Under this scheme, two lifts and two escalators have been built. A waiting area at the station has been built, and the old station building has been refurbished. Along with this, a new ticket booking window with departure is being planned.
Some of the key features of the redevelopment include the segregation of arrival/departure passenger movements, superior road connectivity and adequate parking within the station premises.
Work to be completed by next month
According to the South Coast Railway officials, the works are being done in a phased manner. All works are likely to be completed by next month.

In the first phase, the foundation stone has been laid for 21 stations in Telangana, 15 in Andhra Pradesh, 13 in Maharashtra, and one station in Karnataka at a combined cost of nearly Rs 2.079.29 crore.
