New Year's night: Police arrest 2,883 for drunk driving in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda
The majority of individuals caught were between 21 and 30 years of age
By Newsmeter Network Published on 2 Jan 2025 7:38 AM ISTHyderabad: Police have apprehended 2,883 persons for drunk driving during special checking on New Year's night in areas falling under Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda commissionerates.
Hyderabad topped the list with 1,425 arrests), followed by Cyberabad with 839, and Rachakonda with 619. The majority of individuals caught were between 21 and 30 years of age. Most of them were two-wheeler riders.
During the drunk driving checks, the licenses of those arrested were confiscated and sent to the RTA for revocation, said Hyderabad Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) P Vishwa Prasad.

From December 31 night to January 1 morning, 49 teams of Cyberabad Police conducted drunk driving tests across Cyberabad, and 839 persons were caught. Police registered cases against all of them.
Nearly 685 were riding two-wheelers, 18 three-wheelers, 131 four-wheelers, and 5 heavy vehicles. Police said the driver's licenses will be seized and sent to the concerned RTAs for suspension as per section 19 of the MV Act, 1988.
Around 366 persons had alcohol readings of more than 100 mg/100 ml of blood 24 had more than 300 mg/100 ml and 04 persons had more than 500 mg/100 ml reading. Most of the cases were reported in RC Puram, Madhapur, Kukatpally, Miyapur, Narsingi, Alwal, Jeedimetla, and Medchal.
