NH-44 stretch in Kamareddy damaged by rains; traffic diversions issued
Hyderabad: Traffic diversions have been announced after heavy rains damaged a stretch of National Highway-44 (Nagpur Highway) near the Bhikanoor tollgate in Kamareddy district. The Telangana Police said the measures were taken to ensure public safety and smooth vehicular movement.
Diversions for Hyderabad–Adilabad Traffic
For vehicles heading from Hyderabad towards Adilabad, two separate diversion plans have been drawn up.
Heavy vehicles will be diverted at Medchal Checkpost and routed through Medchal, Siddipet, Karimnagar, Jagityal, Korutla, Metpally, Armoor and finally to Adilabad.
Light vehicles will be diverted at Toopran, with the route passing through Medchal, Toopran, Siddipet, Karimnagar, Jagityal, Korutla, Metpally and Armoor before reaching Adilabad.
“Heavy vehicles strictly follow Medchal diversion,” the advisory noted.
Diversions for Adilabad–Hyderabad Traffic
For vehicles coming from Adilabad towards Hyderabad, the diversion point has been set at Kondapur Bridge in Nirmal district. The route prescribed is via Kondapur, Mamada, Khanapur, Metpally, Jagityal, Karimnagar and onwards to Hyderabad.
Affected stretch on NH-44
Authorities said the most affected stretch lies between Kamareddy, Dichpalli and Armoor. At present, only about 25 per cent of traffic is moving on this section, which remains prone to jams and delays.
The public advisory cautioned: “Four-wheelers avoid Ramayampet – Kamareddy – Dichpalli stretch.”
Police deployment and public advisory
Traffic Police and Highway Patrol teams have been stationed along the diversion routes to assist commuters. The Director General of Police, Telangana, urged motorists to adhere to the diversions.
