NIPER Hyderabad gets Rs 100-crore construction plan

Hyderabad: The Union minister of health and family welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, unveiled the Rs. 100-crore construction plan of National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in Hyderabad on 17 December.

Dr. Mandaviya said the permanent campus will be a landmark for quality and research, which will inspire the best minds to enhance their knowledge. The industry and academia will also benefit greatly as along with quality human resources, they can also utilize the latest equipment and collaborate with the faculty and scholars, he said. He added that the construction will begin with the first phase shortly for which the formalities have been completed.

The Union minister also inaugurated the NABL-accredited Analytical Testing Laboratory and Medical Devices Laboratory at NIPER. After the inauguration, he said, "Medical devices are one of the core focus areas of the government, which has ta remendous scope as the sector can truly make India self-reliant."

Dr. Mandaviya opined that entrepreneurs would find it extremely useful to have such a testing facility well equipped with all high-end equipment. He added that this is in alignment with the Central government's vision of 'Startup India', which promotes entrepreneurship in pharmaceutical R&D.

The Analytical Testing Laboratory currently works as an empaneled lab within the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP scheme) and ensures quality control checks of medicines.

Recalling the successful Covid management for which the country was applauded worldwide, Dr. Mandaviya exhorted the faculty and students of the institute to think beyond journals and convert technology that can benefit society. The minister also encouraged the faculty members to understand the needs and problems faced by the industry and collaborate with the students to find solutions.
