Niranjan urges ECI to act against KTR, Eatala for violating poll code by talking to media after voting

Hyderabad: Congress leader G Niranjan has filed complaints with the Election Commission of India alleging poll code violations by BRS working president K Taraka Rama Rao and BJP MP candidate from Malkajgiri Eatala Rajender on the day of polling for the Lok Sabha elections on Monday.

In letters to the state chief electoral officer Vikas Raj, the TPCC senior vice president and chairman of the Election Commission Coordination Committee, wrote that both leaders violated the poll code while talking to the media after casting their votes.

KTR cast his vote in the Nandi Hills polling station in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency in the Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat. Niranjan alleged that KTR, while speaking to the media, said that ‘he cast his vote in favour of the party and the leader who brought Telangana State for the people’ and appealed to the voters to do the same. Niranjan said that KTR’s statements are ‘against the secrecy of voting and a violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC).’

Niranjan asked the ECI to invalidate KTR’s vote.

Similarly, the Congress leader also complained that Eatala Rajender broke the election code after voting. The BJP candidate voted in Gudur of Medchal in Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat. Niranjan alleged that Eatala told the media that the entire nation is giving the slogan ‘phir ek bar Modi sarkar’ which is against the poll code. He also asked the ECI to take action on Telangana State BJP president and Union minister G Kishan Reddy for taking the name of prime minister Narendra Modi while talking to the media on Monday.
