Hyderabad: Floral tributes were offered on the 56th death anniversary of the seventh Nizam, Sir Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan Bahadur, on 24 February by his family and descendants at Mecca Masjid here. Many well-wishers, members of different trusts of the Nizam, and others also paid tributes.
His grandson Nawab Najaf Ali Khan said, āWe demand that the Blue Book Properties of the Nizam VII must be safeguarded. The encroachments on these proprieties must stop and the illegal sale of our properties must not be carried out. We, the grandsons and great-grandsons of the Nizam demand that a high-level committee must be formed by the state government to look into these issues and the problems must be resolved soon.ā

Descendants want to be seen and heard
After the coronation of Prince Azmet Jah, many members of the Nizam family are keen to be seen and heard. Najaf Ali Khan said, āWe want our grandsons to be known in the society as they will carry the legacy forward. It is important that at events like these, their presence is felt and acknowledged by society.ā
This is being done in light of the recent events where descendants of Nizam I to Nizam VI put forward their demands. The open discussions and claims of Majlis-e-Sahibzadagan and Majlis-e- Sahebzadagan Society have generated a deep-seated curiosity on how many descendants there are and in what lineage.
The Asif Jah Dynasty
The rich cultural heritage of Hyderabad says a lot about Nizamās rule. Their contribution to the culture, heritage, and also civic services in the Deccan region is still considered the best. Preserving the rich cultural heritage is important and so is settling disputes. While there are too many legal and complex issues, there is a growing thought that they must be resolved soon. There is fear that properties will be sold and the real claimants will not get what they deserve. With this in mind, there is growing interest in the affairs of the different trusts of Nizam and the manner in which they can be monitored in the future.
