Nizam VIII Mukarram Jah to be laid to rest in Makkah Masjid on 18 Jan

Mr. Faiz Khan said his body will arrive in Hyderabad on 17 January and the next day, they will put his body in the Khilwat palace for people to pay their last respect.

Nizam VIII Mukarram Jah to be laid to rest in Makkah Masjid on 18 Jan

Hyderabad: Nizam VIII Nawab Mir Barkat Ali Khan Mukarram Jah Bahadur will be laid to rest in Makkah Masjid on 18 January after Asar (evening prayers).

His body is scheduled to arrive in the city on the evening of 17 January. From the morning of 18 January, his body will be kept in the Chowmohalla palace (Khilwat Mubarak) for people to pay their last respect. Advisor to the Telangana government A.K Khan confirmed this after consultations with the Nizam’s family members and trustees of his Trust.

Mr. A.K Khan and other government officials met Princess Esra Jah, the former wife of the 8th Nizam, and other members of the Trust, including Faiz Khan, at the Khilwat palace to discuss the Nizam’s last rituals. Following the discussion, Mr. A.K Khan spoke to the media and confirmed that Nizam VIII will be laid to rest on 18 January.


Mr. Faiz Khan said his body will arrive in Hyderabad on 17 January and the next day, they will put his body in the Khilwat palace for people to pay their last respect. On the same day, his last journey will start from the Khilwat palace to Makkah Masjid where they will perform prayers and burial on the lawn of Makkah Masjid where other rulers of the Asif Jahi dynasty are buried.

Mr. A.K Khan, along with Mr. Faiz Khan and some police officers, visited the Khilwat palace and Makkah Masjid to see the arrangements.

Mr. A.K Khan said the government is making all arrangements for Mukarram Jah Bahadur’s final journey. He said the state government has announced a state funeral for the last Nizam.

The 8th Nizam of Hyderabad, Nawab Mir Barkat Ali Khan Mukarram Jah Bahadur, breathed his last peacefully at his residence in Turkey on 14 January. Born on 6 October 1933, he was the eighth and last Nizam of the Asif Jahi dynasty. Though the prince lived in Australia and Turkey most of his life, he had a sentimental and emotional connection with Hyderabad and visited the city whenever possible.


After a said letter sent to Rizwan Quraishi it’s confirmed he is going to lead the prayer of last ruler of Hyderabad Deccan. Imam & Khateeb of Makkah Masjid Maulana Hafiz rizwan Quraishi is Hafiz, Alim & Fazil from Jamia Nizamia serving as khateeb in Makkah Masjid who recently awarded PhD from Osmania University on his research in Arabic.


Final Journey:

The mortal remains of H.E.H. The VIII Nizam late Nawab Mir Barkat Ali Khan Walashan Mukarram Jah Bahadur will arrive from Turkey at 5 pm on January 17 and will be kept at Chowmahalla palace.

• The family of H.E.H. the Nizam, close friends of the family, staff and trustees may pay their last respects between 7 PM and 10 PM on Tuesday, January 17

• Special arrangements are made for Ladies and Gentlemen to pay their last respects at Chowmahalla Palace between 08.00 AM and 01.00PM on Wednesday, January 18th

• Around 4 PM of January 18, the mortal remains will be carried to Mecca Masjid for burial

• After Asar prayers H.E.H. the VIII Nizam will be laid to rest by his immediate family

• The funeral will be with full police honours and arrangements are being done with coordination with all departments of Government of Telangana. People have been advised to maintain decorum and respect tradition
