No action on occupied houses: HYDRAA assures residents in Survey No. 44 in Ranga Reddy

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Monday sought to allay fears among residents living in Survey No. 44 of Maktha Mahabubpet village in Serilingampally mandal of Ranga Reddy district, asserting that houses already under occupation will not be affected by its operations.

‘Action only on protecting govt land from encroachments’

HYDRAA officials said the ongoing activity in the area is strictly limited to protecting remaining government land from further encroachments and acting against those who have created fake documents to illegally construct commercial establishments.

‘Residential houses built before HYDRAA won’t be disturbed’

Clarifying its stand, HYDRAA stated that it will not disturb residential houses that were constructed and occupied before the agency was constituted.

The government had set up HYDRAA in July 2024 and had already taken a policy decision that houses built before its formation should not be demolished. This rule, officials said, applies uniformly across the State.

Residents were urged not to panic or fall prey to rumours being spread by vested interests.

Entire Survey No. 44 is classified as government land

According to HYDRAA, Survey No. 44 has a total extent of 260.01 acres, all of which is classified as government land as per Sethwar village records.

Over the years, several houses have come up on this land, and HYDRAA reiterated that it has no intention of acting against such dwellings.

However, the agency warned that certain individuals have illegally occupied large parcels of land by creating forged documents and have constructed unauthorised commercial complexes.

Action against encroachments and illegal constructions

HYDRAA said it has credible information that some encroachers are misleading residents and deliberately creating fear to safeguard their illegal landholdings and commercial properties.

These individuals, officials noted, are allegedly earning lakhs of rupees every month by leasing out unauthorised shops and showrooms.

The fencing being carried out in the area, HYDRAA clarified, is meant solely to prevent further encroachments on government land.

Fencing to protect government land

Acting on complaints received through Prajavani, HYDRAA earlier fenced five acres of government land adjacent to the BK Enclave tank.

More recently, fencing was carried out over 15 acres of remaining government land in Survey No. 44 over the past two days. Unauthorised structures that lacked mandatory permissions were removed as part of the drive, the agency said.

Forged registrations taken seriously

HYDRAA added that the State government has taken a serious view of illegal registrations carried out using forged documents in the area. In this connection, a sub-registrar from the Stamps and Registration Department has already been suspended.

Appealing to residents to stay calm, HYDRAA urged them to understand that the agency’s actions are aimed at safeguarding public land and not at targeting genuine homeowners.
