On Monday, DCP Madhapur K. Shilpavalli asked pubs in the area not to serve liquor to minors and to check the identity cards like Aadhar to verify a customer's age.
The DCP further said minors will not be allowed in the pub premises for non-alcoholic parties either. She also warned pub management and asked them not to engage women to perform obscene dances to attract customers. Further, all rules pertaining to timings have to be strictly adhered to, she said. She added that pubs that have permission to operate round-the-clock shall not tweak the rule to their convenience but ensure it is restricted to only in-house guests.
Proper checking and frisking of customers have to be done so that they do not bring banned substances into the premises, she said. Female customers will have to be checked by female employees only, the DCP said and added that security personnel should be engaged to prevent any skirmishes in and around the pub premises.
Ms. Shilpavalli also said that there are complaints from several neighbours about sound pollution. She said pubs should have soundproof facilities or they should not play music beyond the decibels allowed. Also, pubs have been warned not to allow any use of drugs and other narcotic substances on their premises, including parking places. They should bring to the notice of the police any such illegal activity.
The DCP also emphasised that pubs should not allow their customers who are in a drunken state to drive their vehicles but provide valet drivers and ensure no accidents happen. She warned the pubs that they will be booked not just for violations but for abetment if any crime or offense occurs due to willful negligence in adherence to the rules and legal obligations.
