No evictions in survey No. 307: HYDRAA reassures Gajularamaram residents; alternative sites for Pragathi Nagar traders
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Wednesday assured that no poor households will be evicted from government land in Survey No. 307 at Gajularamaram village in Medchal–Malkajgiri district.
HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath said the agency’s objective is to protect public land while safeguarding the interests of economically weaker residents already living there.
Commissioner makes field visit to allay fears
Amid growing anxiety among residents, the commissioner conducted an on-ground inspection at Survey No. 307 in Gajularamaram and interacted directly with the occupants.
He assured them that HYDRAA would not remove existing poor families and appealed to residents not to believe rumours circulating about demolitions.
Fencing plan without displacement
The Commissioner clarified that fencing would be taken up only to secure vacant government land, while existing houses of poor residents would be excluded. Officials were instructed to strictly prevent any new constructions in the area to avoid further encroachments.
He also warned that if anyone attempts to threaten or cheat residents by falsely invoking HYDRAA’s name, complaints should be lodged directly with the HYDRAA office.
Relief for petty traders around Pragathi Nagar Lake
Addressing concerns near Pragathi Nagar (Amber Cheruvu), the Commissioner directed officials to identify suitable alternative locations for petty traders operating along the road passing through the lake area.
He stressed that traders should be relocated only after ensuring that their livelihoods are not disrupted.
Lake protection measures intensified
HYDRAA said it is acting on public complaints to protect Pragathi Nagar Lake from pollution and encroachment. As part of the sanitation drive, about 150 truckloads of garbage have already been removed from the lake's surroundings.
Locals informed the Commissioner that dumping of fish, chicken and meat waste was causing severe foul smell and environmental concerns.
