`No Helmet – No Petrol’ rule to be strictly enforced in Nalgonda from Jan 7

Nalgonda: Police have decided to strictly enforce the `No Helmet – No Petrol’ rule to ensure the safety of the two-wheeler riders.

District SP Sharath Chandra Pawar said the rule will be implemented from Wednesday as part of the National Road Safety Month.

According to this decision, clear instructions have been issued to all petrol bunks in the district not to supply fuel to two-wheeler riders who arrive without wearing a helmet.

He stated that petrol bunk owners and staff across the district have already been given clear guidelines regarding the implementation of this rule. In addition, counselling and awareness programmes have been conducted to educate two-wheeler riders on the importance of wearing helmets.

The SP pointed out that a large number of fatalities in road accidents involve two-wheeler riders, and in many cases, the absence of helmets leads to severe head injuries resulting in loss of life. With this in view, the decision has been taken with the primary objective of reducing road accidents and saving lives.

The district police appealed to every two-wheeler rider to consider their own safety as well as their family’s future and to ride only after wearing a helmet without fail.

The district police further stated that road safety can be achieved only with public cooperation. Police urged people to respect the law, follow traffic rules, and protect their own lives.
