Hyderabad: In a major safety push, Hyderabad police have directed pubs, bars, cafes, and restaurants across the city to strictly control noise levels, prevent drunken driving, and enhance security measures by installing metal detectors and CCTV cameras, to ensure public safety and compliance with regulations.
Noise pollution restrictions
West Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police, S M Vijay Kumar, said that all amusement licence holders must ensure noise levels do not exceed 65 decibels during the day and 55 decibels at night. Establishments were instructed to implement engineering or acoustic changes to comply with these limits.
Preventing drunk driving
Managers were warned not to allow patrons in an intoxicated state to drive. Instead, they must encourage alternative transportation options or hire drivers to ensure the safety of guests and the public.

Mandatory licences and safety compliance
Establishments were reminded to apply for necessary entertainment and amusement licences through the police web portal. The DCP emphasised that these licences should not be obtained merely as paperwork, but to ensure complete safety and security readiness at their premises.
Enhanced entry checks and CCTV coverage
All owners were directed to install Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMD) and Hand Held Metal Detectors (HHMD) at entry and exit points. Additionally, CCTV cameras with clear visuals covering the entire premises and approach roads must be installed, with footage stored for at least 30 days.
Fire safety preparedness
Bouncers and security staff must be trained in basic security and fire safety tools, with periodic mock drills to prepare for emergencies. Establishments must also ensure proper lighting at entrances, exits, and parking areas to enhance security.
Ban on underage drinking and smoking
Strict instructions were issued prohibiting the sale of alcohol or cigarettes to minors within the premises. Any suspicious activities or materials must be immediately reported to the local police or dial 100.

Event permissions and closing time compliance
Owners were told to seek police permission before organising any events or programmes to ensure adequate precautionary measures and to prevent overcrowding. All establishments must close their operations within the stipulated cut-off timings set by authorities.
Monitoring suspicious vehicles
Managements were advised to be vigilant about auto rickshaws and cabs without proper number plates or with suspicious movements near their premises and report such instances to the police to verify their identity and prevent crimes.
