The incident took place in Mettuguda area of Secunderabad under Chilkalguda police station limits. The brutal incident came to light when the video of four policemen assaulting the gym trainer with a thick wooden stick went viral on social media on Monday. Following this, the public condemned the action and sought action against the police.
In the video, the cops can be seen placing a thick wooden stick between the man's legs and applying pressure. They were also seen kicking him.
The incident happened at around 11 p.m. when a constable came to the gym trainer's house and asked him to come to the police station regarding a case of a fight over a bike. Arogya Raj said he would come to the police station in the morning. Angry over his response, the constable and other police officers thrashed and attacked him. The policemen left when the locals reached the spot. Arogya fractured his leg in the incident and was admitted to a hospital.
Condemning the police action, Congress MLA from Khairatabad Dasoju Sravan tweeted, "This is barbaric, not friendly policing...@TelanganaDGP must punish the police officers who indulged in such an inhumane and cruel act." Congress MP Uttam Kumar Reddy also demanded that the director-general of police and the Hyderabad police commissioner take action against the policemen involved in the incident.
