Hyderabad: A 25-year-old NRI (Non-Resident Indian) named Sabydsilva, temporarily residing in North Goa and a native of Belgium, was allegedly violently assaulted and robbed in Hyderabad. The incident occurred when Sabydsilva came to the city to meet chief minister Revanth Reddy.
According to the complaint filed with Madhura Nagar police, Sabydsilva is an expatriate Indian employed by a chocolate company in Belgium. Silvaās mother hailed from Goa and his father, Pascoaldsilva, was from Portugal. He lost both parents a few years ago. He had returned to India from Belgium three weeks ago and had explored various locations, including Rishikesh and the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
On the recommendation of his brother, Silva decided to meet chief minister Revanth Reddy during his visit. He started from Goa on a train and reached Secunderabad Railway Station on December 8 at around 5:30 am, and proceeded to Jubilee Hills Road No 44 to Revanth Reddyās residence. Despite waiting for hours, he was denied access to meet the chief minister.
Discouraged, Sabydsilva took a passenger auto to return to Secunderabad Railway Station at approximately 7:30 pm. During the journey, he informed the auto driver about the unavailability of Indian currency and exchanged Euros for the fare.
According to the police complaint, at around 11 pm, when the auto reached a dimly lit area near Yousufguda Jankamma Thota, three unidentified individuals in another auto attacked Sabydsilva. The assailants struck him on the cheek, inflicting a bleeding injury to his right hand and right leg with a sharp object. In an attempt to defend himself, Sabydsilva was punched in the chest. The attackers swiftly robbed him of 1,200 Euros, along with his laptop bag and Samsung S23 Ultra mobile phone.
The Madhura Nagar police registered a case under Section 394 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertains to voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery. The investigation is currently underway, with authorities working to identify and apprehend the assailants.
