Ola begins e-bike services in Hyderabad; fare at Rs 25 for 5 km

The company aims to deploy 10,000 electric vehicles (e-vehicles) in the next two months and expand its services nationwide by the end of 2024.
In a press release on January 26, Ola stated, āOla eBike service will be the most affordable, sustainable, and convenient solution to commute within the cities.ā The pricing structure for Ola eBike is set at Rs 25 for 5 km, Rs 50 for 10 km, and Rs 75 for 15 km.
Hemant Bakshi, CEO of Ola Mobility, highlighted the success of the eBike taxi pilot in Bangalore, stating, āWe have proven its sustainable value proposition for all ecosystem participants ā the consumer (lower price), the driver (higher earnings), and Ola (new category and revenues).ā
The initiative, which began testing eBike taxis in Bangalore in September 2023, marked the introduction of affordable electric bike rides in India. Within three months, the service witnessed significant growth, expanding the market by 40 per cent and providing over 1.75 million rides.
With the ambition to create a larger market for e-bike taxis, Ola plans to extend its eBike services across Bangalore, Delhi, and Hyderabad.
āThe companyās approach aims to emphasise affordability, sustainability, and convenience as key factors in transforming the urban commute landscape,ā said Bakshi.
