#ORR21kmsCyclingTrack: Come summer 2023, Hyderabad may become biker capital of India
There was a discussion led by HUMTA MD Vijayalakshmi mam with the participation of the government and we also represented from Community. Out of a few routes, ORR was chosen, because this was agreed upon by all parties, and it was also suitable in all aspects. High-level requirements were identified, and this was graciously approved by the Telangana government.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 21 Dec 2022 9:30 AM GMTPrecisely by September 2022, there was news from South Korea about 5.5-mile Bicycle Track with Solar Panels on top. Impromptu, IT and MAUD Minister KT Rama Rao immediately responded saying let us have it for Hyderabad.
While we were proposing for Comprehensive Bicycle Lanes Network in the city (an ideal and best thing for the city), the government responded with two things:
1) First, Sample Model tracks in every GHMC zone, which will span up to 90 km of Cycling Tracks across the city. Please note, this is not a Comprehensive Bicycle Lanes Network, which is what is ideally needed for our city for commuting and mobility purposes.
2) Secondly, the world-famous #ORR21kmsCyclingTrack is a very much welcome move and much appreciated.
What?
#ORR21kmsCyclingTrack, in other words, #HealthWay will be a world-class amazing project, which every other city will be envious of. Every other city in the world will refer to Hyderabad for this particular gem project. This project will mark Hyderabad on the world map of Cycling.
We all need to be proud of this other jewel of Hyderabad, in addition to many other jewels of our city Hyderabad.
How?
1) Residents of Hyderabad can reach by car or public transportation or bicycle.
2) There will be amenities available for citizens like ā Eateries, Washrooms, Water, Bicycle Parking, Bicycle Rentals, Repairs, etc.,
3) This stretch will be 24 hours open, fully lighted, and CCTV camera enabled.
4) This stretch can be used for fun, fitness, and family outing.
5) 2 can ride one side and 2 can ride opposite sides at the same time ā 4 column way.
6) For the complete stretch, it is roofed by Solar Panel, which will be contributing to the Telangana State Power Grid. 2 in 1 advantage, where cyclists do not have to worry about rain or sun.
7) Hyderabad in general is a safe city and with the CCTV cameras, this will be a safe place.
Why?
#ORR21kmsCyclingTrack will be a blessing in terms of the Promotion of Cycling in our city. This will be very good for the Fitness and Health of the residents of our city with safe cycling not only for adults but also for children of any age. There is a high possibility that more and more residents will pick up Cycling because of this facility. In that way, the Cycling Community of Hyderabad is very happy with this infrastructure and we are proud of this great initiative by the government, which all the residents of Hyderabad will love it.
While #ORR21kmsCyclingTrack is being made for delivery in 2023, as #CyclingCommunityOfHyderabad, we have a responsibility to use it, adopt it and make this "world-class bicycle track" usable and completely adopted by more and more Residents of our city #Hyderabad.
Let us begin the mission - Let us start building awareness in the city about this track by starting to do #Bicycle Ride along the "proposed" route.
Overall, looking forward to March 2023 and having a big bang ride with 1000s of cyclists on this Special Bicycle Track.
Note:
1) Track is not yet ready as of date. We should start visiting this place while it is being made.
2) The project is expected to be delivered by the Summer of 2023.
