Hyderabad: The doctors of Osmania General Hospital and Helping Hand Foundation Volunteers saved the life of a man who met with an accident.

A 35-year-old construction worker from Jharkhand met with an accident, falling from the second floor on 26 November at a construction site in Abids. Two rods pierced his body.

Around 12.30 p.m, he was taken to Osmania General Hospital in excruciating pain and bleeding.

Mr. Mujtabha of the Helping Hands Foundation shared, "We have a 24-hour help desk at the hospital. We could help him when he came in an emergency."

A multi-specialty team of OGH doctors undertook the emergency surgery. They evaluated the situation and performed a prolonged surgery for four to five hours.

The two iron rods were successfully removed by 9.30 p.m. Though the rods had perforated the small intestines, other organs were untouched.

"The patient's family stays in Jharkhand. He was alone here. Our volunteers arranged for blood and stood by the patient as a family to give him moral support," Mr. Mujhtaba added.

About the patient's condition, he said, "He is stable now. He will be in post-operative care for a few days but is out of danger."

He further thanked Dr. G. Srinivas, the HOD and CT surgeon, Dr. Nitish from the urology department, Dr. Aditya from the surgical gastroenterology department, Dr. Ajitha from the general surgery department, and the anesthesia team.
