Hyderabad: Police have booked TRS MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao for allegedly outraging the modesty of a Dalit woman at his residence in Dulapally on August 15.
Police have registered under section 354 of the IPC and the SC and ST Act on a complaint from a BJP worker.
After his remarks against BJP Telangana president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Independence Day, a group of women workers went to his residence to protest. MLA used filthy language against the protesting workers. He allegedly dragged a 30-year-old victim, tore her clothes, and attempted to rape her.
She however escaped from the place with the help of other women. Two days later she lodged a complaint at the Petbasheerabad police station, following which a case was registered.
Earlier a case was also registered against Hanumanth Rao at Neredmet police station for allegedly assaulting BJP workers, who were protesting him.
The altercation broke out between BJP workers and MLA's followers during flag hoisting ceremony. A BJP corporator was injured in the incident.
Later Bandi Sanjay made some remarks against Mynampally Hanumanth Rao. In response, Rao too made derogatory comments against Sanjay
