Mr. Owaisi said people can contact the helpline 73066-00600 from 6 a.m till midnight. He said a team of doctors will guide patients and their attendants regarding treatment and anyone can call the helpline number to get the help they need.
A team of 20 executives and doctors is launching the initiative in the first phase and Aghapura function hall has been converted into a COVID-19 ward, the AIMIM chief said, adding, "Depending upon the requirement as suggested by the doctors, medicines and oxygen cylinders will be provided to the patient."
Mr. Owaisi said that a Rs. 1.4 crore COVID-19 relief package has been set up, along with an oxygen bank with 250 cylinders and refilling services. Kits with essential medicines are also being distributed to patients with mild to moderate symptoms, he added.
He said one must look beyond politics in the current situation and assured that they will try to provide medicine or oxygen cylinders at the patient's doorstep. For the time being, oxygen cylinders and sufficient medicines are kept at the COVID war room set up at the Aghapura function hall, he said, adding the local doctors will be assisted by the Deccan Alumni of North America (DANA) team.
"In the next few days, DANA will provide online counseling to patients and the helpline will operate round-the-clock," Mr. Owaisi said while also urging people to get vaccinated.
